Impanded Pipes® by EBK
Tolerances: tight. Load capacity: wide.
While steel pipes are normally calibrated with classical presses the production progress and modern pipe requirements create the need for new technologies. In order to produce large diameter pipes with precise and tight tolerances EBK uses our patented Impander®, who deforms the pipes from the outside. The result: Tightest tolerances – even after cutting of the pipes. The Impander® technology leads to the reduction of residual stress and increased collapse resistance. By using the EBK Impander® technology three different pipe types are produced:
- Pipes impanded over the entire pipe length for increased collapse resistance
- Pipes calibrated with the Impander® over the entire pipe length
- Pipes calibrated at the pipe ends with the Impander®

Applications for Impanded Pipes® by EBK
Where standard is no longer enough
Impanded Pipes® by EBK are mainly used in the oil & gas industry, offshore and in refineries because they are especially suitable for the transport of liquids and gases under critical temperature and pressure conditions. We are using technologies like cold forming or thermal expansion in order to reinforce the steel pipes. This increases the mechanical strength and makes them more resistant against mechanical loads. In deep sea pipelines, where hydrocarbons are transported over long distances and challenging sea bed conditions Impanded Pipes® by EBK play an important role. Thereby pipes impanded over the entire pipe length offer an increased collapse resistance.
In addition pipe end Impanded Pipes® are used in the offshore industry for Riser Pipes and Flowlines because of their improved fatigue resistance regarding the lateral and horizontal movements of the sea water. In refineries they are used because of their tight tolerances and resistance against chemical influences and corrosion attack.
